Mill Valley Festival–Last Call
Hello to the 15,000,
The Mill Valley Film Festival is upon us once again and this year we have two films in it. OPENING, the Direct Action film we did in Kansas City featuring the warring denizens of an art opening interrupted by a tornado warning, will play on Friday, Oct. 6, at 9:15 PM at the Rafael Film Center, 1118 4th. St., San Rafael. PAN, 9 @ Night film #8, about a young latchkey boy who is befriended by a homeless ex-convict plays on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 8:00 PM also at the Rafael Film Center.
We are short handed this year due to work pressures and have the added disadvantage of playing early in the festival, leaving us less than two weeks to publicize these two events. So I’m asking true believers from the 15,000 to come to our aid. We have pamphlets and postcards printed for both films and we need your help in getting them out to individuals, groups, art, drama and cinema venues, coffee houses and bars, performance spaces, schools and institutions around the Bay Area.
Please call us at (510) 867-9994 or (510) 527-7217 if you can commit to helping us get the word out. Or e-mail us at rnilsson@robnilsson.com. A little time, a lot of time, it doesn’t matter. If you only have time to make one guerrilla raid armed with flyers, it would be much appreciated. We’ll arrange to get you some materials and you can work on your own time. Or you could make a few phone calls to get people out to the theatre. Either way, contact us and we’ll tell you where you could do the most good.
We hope you can make it one of the screenings as well. Tickets are available online at http://mvff.com, by phone at (925) 866-9559, and by fax at (925) 866-9597. We will be gathering at the Broken Drum, a restaurant/bar two doors from the theatre, after both shows. Come along, have a glass with us and tell us what you think of the work. I don’t have to tell you that I think these two films will be the best American cinema you’ll see this year.
Aim high,
Rob
