Presque Isle After & Beyond
Hello to the 15,000,
Congratulations to all of us! We sold out our World Premiere showing of PRESQUE ISLE on Friday night. I know that many of you went out of your way to make this happen and I’m very grateful to each of you. We got a lot done in a very short period of time. Two days before the show we still had a third of the house to fill but I believed we could do it, and we did.
There was a lot of energy and praise in the room after the screening. The film did what I hoped it would do. There were dissenters but I think that’s important. A good film should divide an audience, to paraphrase Andre Gide. Division doesn’t equal good, but it creates the kind of discussion which should be our goal. In many ways the work of a film is done after we’ve seen it. Our generation went to coffee houses and bars to talk things over after a film. I recommend a boozy, smoky place where thoughts and feelings seem part of the unruly human discourse. You’ve got plenty of time to be healthy on week ends.
This leaves us with only one of the three remaining screenings to sell out. Both USED and GO TOGETHER have been sold out for two weeks. There are still tickets for the PRESQUE ISLE show on Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Rafael, 9:15. Let’s get this one done early. Tell those who haven’t gone yet that this is their chance. We’ve got just three days to sell 50 tickets. I know if we work together we can do it again. See you there!
Tickets available at mvff.com or call 1 877-874-6833. In person- San Rafael Ticket Outlet, 1118 4th. St., San Rafael, CA or Mill Valley Ticket Outlet, Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce, 85 Throckmorton Ave., Mill Valley, CA.
To the power of 15,000!

presque isle was all it promised to be and MORE!! i have been re-visited by it’s haunting poetry for days since the screening - - and spent many moments in between life duties thinking about my family/ancestors and the dance between forgiving them and despising them (for their limitations) - - i constantly drift back to the image of the couple naked, entwined,
emerging out of the island forest landscape - - there is this DEEP sensuality born out of intimacy in this film - the kind of sensuality i feel in the wilderness - thank-you thank-you!!

I am so happy our film gave you this experience. This is what I hope for and it richly pays me back for what goes into making it. Sensuality and intimacy… if the film provides this I can only be thankful for my friends and collaborators who helped me make it possible. And yes, the space between forgiving our families and despising them is a very human one. We all feel something of it, and the guilt for feeling it can be very crippling until we realize it’s a natural part of living, something we can admit and make creative by fully expressing.

Dear Rob, being that my son Mike Hill was used as a body double, I would like to be able to receive or buy a DVD.

Hello Bill,
When we get a usable DVD Master we will send a DVD copy to you. Be sure to send me your address. It may be a little while, as I want to do some more editing, but stay after us.
Rob
