Silver Lake Festival
Hello to the 15,000,
I’ll be short on the rhetoric this time, long on advertisements for ourselves. For all of you in the Los Angeles area, heads up that the Silver Lake Film Festival is giving me their Spirit of Silver Lake Filmmaker’s award at 7:30 PM on March 26 at the Arclight Theatres, 6360 Sunset, between Vine and Ivar. I’m honored that our work is being recognized by independent spirits in the very heart of the town you’ve heard me praise so often.
In reality, film is an art of collaboration so I consider this award the shared recognition of many years working with kindred spirits in San Francisco and around the world. Many of our long-time Tenderloin yGroup fellow travelers will be present including actors Gabriela Maltz Larkin, (the ranking member of the Tenderloin yGroup), David Fine, Brette McCabe, Marianne Heath, Cory Duval, Adan Faudoa, Producer/Cinematographer/Editor Chikara Motomura, Cinematogrpher Steve Burns, our new Creative Producer, Michael Edo Keane and possibly Mickey Freeman, Cinematographer as well. From the past Dan Leegant, Lead Actor of SIGNAL 7 and its producers Ben Myron and Don Taylor will also be present.
In addition, our good friends and artistic colleagues from the Filmmaker’s Alliance, Jacques Thelemaque and Diane Gaidry will be there. Diane is one of the lead actors in NEED, film #7 in our 9 @ Night following the award. We owe Jacques and Diane as well as other members of the Alliance as well, a large debt of gratitude for supporting our work over the years.
Three of our films will be shown on March 26. The following flyer will give you all the information you need to attend. (Or download a flyer here.) I hope to see you all there. Consider it an action in support of our kind of cinema.
Aim high,
Rob
